Devon's Story
Devon grew up in Carthage, NY on a farm before moving to Florida when he was eight. After some difficult times in his life Devon trusted in the Lord and started to seek out what it meant to be a man by God's standards. When he was in 10th grade Devon got serious about his walk with the Lord finding the Great Commission Bible Institute (GCBI). Through this one year Bible Institute He felt lead into Youth Ministry at Bible Fellowship Church where he still currently works with Youth. He is looking forward to facing life together with the amazing woman the Lord has shaped and molded Caroline into.
Caroline's Story
Caroline grew up in good ole' Sebring, FL and has nothing but good memories of her childhood in her family of five. She decided it was her destiny to be an artist when she won an honorable mention in an art contest in Kindergarten and hasn't looked back. Caroline achieved her Bachelors from Florida State University before working in the field of graphic design and photography in Atlanta, GA and Raleigh, NC. From here she got her Masters from NC State University, then returned to Central Florida and began to pursue a career in wedding and lifestyle photography which she still remains passionate about to this day. She looks forward to adding a handsome assistant to her line up come this fall!
Our Story
He Said: We met for the first time in La Mision, Mexico on a missions trip where neither of us were really looking for anything other than the Lord's direction. I obviously noticed that she was very beautiful but when I found out how old she was I honestly didn't give her another thought. I mean seriously!? 10 years older!?! Yikes...
She Said: We were so far off each other's "radar" for obvious reasons Devon so sweetly stated above (although technically it is 9 years and 9 months and we are both 80s babies), that even though we attended the same church and were involved in youth ministry together we simply remained mere acquaintances for over a year. That next summer we found ourselves together in a bible study (thanks to Harry Havery's prodding) where we drew closer as friends, witnessed one another's walk with the Lord and developed a deep appreciation for each other's heart for people. I kept thinking... "What a catch?! Who can I set Devon up with?" Then on a serendipitous day that involved a flip of the hair (Devon's hair) things changed... Love bloomed...
He Said: It was one of those things that God was definitely in just to open our eyes to the whole situation and how we should go about it. Neither of us were looking for anything which I know probably sounds cliche. Her heart and passion where so amazing that I really was wondering if the Lord was trying to get my attention. Over time the age thing really became an after thought as we developed into best friends which is my favorite thing about our relationship. We just really enjoy each other...
She Said: We spent the next year and a half becoming best friends before calling it official on April Fools Day. That was over two years ago. Today we are excited about continuing the adventure in life together as best friends (with the same last name)!
