Sebring is location in the heart of Central Florida with tons of small town charm and glorious old Florida countryside to explore. Here's a small sampling of some of our favorite things to do in the area.
Eat & Drink
One of our favorite things to do when traveling is explore local food stops. (Yelp never seems to fail. Thanks Yelp!) So it is no surprise to find some of our favorite Sebring spots high up on the Yelp rating list for the area. Check them out y'all!
Chicanes $$$
Caroline's Fav. With a view of the house she grew up in across the lake.
Blue Lagoon $
Devon's Fav. Get the wings!
Cang Tong $$
Yummy sushi (try the Buzzy Yama) and hibachi
The Garden Cafe $
Alfresco garden dining with delish bites to eat
Don Jose's $$
Best salsa hands down. Plus it has a pretty lovely view of Lake Jackson and a porch to take it all in.
Ranchero Cafe $
Tiny little place with the best mexican food. We like the two seater table right by the front door in the window.
Play & Explore
Central Florida may be nationally known of the retirement capital of the world but there are plenty of "non-retirement" activities to do too besides golfing (although the golfing around here is pretty good too!)
The Lake
Find a friend with a boat and enjoy the wind in your hair and maybe a go-around on a knee board too.
Sun N Lakes Golf Course
Devon's Favorite golf spot.
Highlands Hammock State Park
Take time to check out some glorious untouched Florida and fun wildlife too. Then definitely grab a seat on the tram tour (you have to get tickets early in the day to make sure you have a spot) and you'll get a chance to explore the Hammock "back-roads" and see tons and tons and tons of gators too.
Bok Tower Gardens
This is not only the spot where all of our lovely engagement photos were taken but it is a beauty to wander the gardens and explore (and then grab an ice cream cone in the cafe). Just plan for a little drive north on 27 about 30 miles.
Highlands Art League & The Yellow House Gallery
Not only is this the home to some of Caroline's photography on display in her studio in the Yellow House Gallery but it offers so much other fun and creative things to do in the area. Try an Art Uncorked class and watch the sun set over Lake Jackson as you channel your inner Van Gogh.
Area Antique Shopping
Such a fun pastime (says Caroline). And most of the decor you'll see around the wedding is a treasure found in local antique and thrift shops. Hit up Downtown Sebring for several shops all in one stop or head south on HWY 27 and see what you find. Or you can always take a trip over to Arcadia, FL just 30 miles west for some of the best antique shopping around (all on one street). They even have an Antique Fair on the fourth Saturday of the month (Hey, that's our wedding day!). Just make it back in time for the celebration pretty please.
